Recently I realized that I've known some of my teammates for years now and I still don't know what they really do for a living. I know some general information like who's an engineer, or a student, or who works in finance, or in construction. For example: I know that Mo works for Cisco (I think), but what the hell does he do there? Fookie works for Electronic Arts but all I know is that he works with computers and rolls no gi during lunch. That's just the tip of the iceberg of what I don't know about my teamates. There are also the hobbies that these guys do outside of Jiu-Jitsu like photography, bartending, snowboarding, contract killing, etc.
What we have here is an opportunity to get to know our teammates better AND to help each other out.
Examples:
Need a straight up haircut? Contact Fookie Fook.
Need a fancy haircut? Contact Nate G. or Tiffany G. (Tom's wife).
Need a DJ? Contact Ryan B.
Need a bartender? Contact Lancaster. I'm not sure if @sushi and T-mo do private gigs but you can ask them.
Need new hardwood floors? Contact Nam.
Need new kitchen cabinets? Contact Jimmy.
Need a flashlight? Contact Zvi.
Getting engaged and need a ring box? Contact Zvi again.
Need a chiropractor or salsa lessons? Contact Ernesto.
Need a flux capacitor? Contact Newell.
I'm not saying that these people will give you a discount or good deal on anything (they might) but at the very least you know who you are dealing with and if you don't like the job they do for you, you know where they train and you can try to choke your frustrations out on them.
I'm thinking of creating a directory of services that our Jiu-Jitsu family can provide with names, contact info, etc. Let me know if you are interested and shoot me an email at oneworldjiujitsu@gmail.com. No illegal services please (like contract killing, that was a joke).
See you on the mat.
Fookie is so good he can cut your hair outdoors and in the dark:
